Brazos Progressives and Brazos Writers Welcome AccessFilms to ...

BRYAN, TX?Brazos Progressives and Brazos Writers are proud to welcome AccessFilms to Red Wasp 2012! On Saturday, October 27, 1:00-4:00 pm at StageCenter Community Theatre in downtown Bryan, TX. Brazos Writers joins forces with the Red Wasp Film Festival to present a workshop on screenplay writing led by screenwriter Ben Wiggins, who is the founder and Development Executive at AccessFilms. Wiggins is a 2000 graduate of Texas A&M Consolidated High School, who went on to receive his undergraduate degree from Rice University and a Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Texas A&M University.

Based in Encino, California, AccessFilms is a ?go-to? resource for those interested in becoming successful filmmakers. AccessFilms? clients work with experienced actors, directors, writers, and producers to get their clients? film dreams onto the big screen. Wiggins founded AccessFilms in 2010, after becoming interested in filmmaking as a career when he was in graduate school. ?Filmmaking continues to hold my interest because it?s creative,? he said. ?There?s a ton of risk in the industry, but it?s worth it to get to create a story that will inspire and speak to people.?

Wiggins describes the screenwriting workshop he?ll conduct at Red Wasp as being ?an exciting and fast-paced three hours. It will cover the elements of story in detail? and will feature ?discussion on dialogue, subtext, visual description, and technological aids? for screenwriters.

This past spring, Access Films conducted workshops at the Texas Film Festival, a festival at Texas A&M University organized by the Aggie ScreenWriting, Acting, and Movie Production Club (Aggie SWAMP Club). ?Film festivals are the chief initial venue for most independent films. They are a place for filmmakers to meet and share ideas, for film fans to meet, and for everyone to come to a better understanding of how the industry works,? stated Wiggins. ?Without film festivals, the current state of the industry could not last.?

This year is the tenth year anniversary of the Red Wasp Film Festival. Each year, Brazos Progressives organizes this showcase of independent film in historic downtown Bryan, TX.

The Red Wasp Film Festival will be Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27, at StageCenter Theatre in downtown Bryan, TX. Doors open at 6 pm each evening, with the screenings beginning at 6:30 pm. The workshop will be Saturday, October 26, 1:00-4:00 pm, at StageCenter. Tickets for the film screenings and workshop will be available at the door. Tickets for film screenings are $25/both nights or $15/one night, and tickets to the workshop are $10 each. Students (with a valid student ID) can purchase tickets for the film screenings for $15/both nights or $10/one night, and student tickets to the workshop are $5 each.
