Live-blog: Hurricane Isaac skirts the Gulf Coast

Isaac, now a Category 1 hurricane packing 80-plus-mph winds and torrential rains, has begun its assault on the northern Gulf Coast.

The center of the storm is scheduled to make landfall near flood-prone New Orleans late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Storm warnings and watches stretch across Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Yahoo News will be tracking the storm's progress in the chat player below. Join the conversation by letting us know what you're seeing. We'll also be pulling in tweets from forecasters, storm chasers and first responders.
